Free community services

Every service on this page is free to families

There is no cost, no insurance requirement, and no income test for any WellMind community program. Screenings need no appointment. Support groups need no registration.

What we offer

Seven free programs

Delivered at Healthy Start sites, Head Start centers, schools, churches, community partner locations, and by telehealth.

Perinatal Mental Health Support

Free mental health screenings, peer support groups, and crisis navigation for pregnant and postpartum women across all five Northeast Florida counties. We use validated clinical screening tools including the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), PHQ-9, and GAD-7 to identify women who need support — and connect them to care immediately. No appointment needed for a screening. No insurance required.

Free Peer Support Groups

Weekly free peer support groups for mothers, fathers, and families led by trained peer support specialists with their own lived experience of mental health challenges. Groups meet across all five counties, and every group is free, confidential, and welcoming to everyone regardless of insurance status, income, or documentation.

Children's Mental Wellness Programs

Five age-based children's mental wellness programs delivered free in Head Start centers, elementary schools, after-school programs, and community sites. All materials, activities, and family resources are provided at no cost.

  • Little Roots (Ages 0–3): Parent-child attachment and early brain development
  • Growing Strong (Ages 3–6): Play-based emotional wellness for preschoolers
  • Roots & Wings (Ages 6–10): Resilience-building for elementary-age children
  • Real Talk (Ages 11–14): Peer-driven mental health education for middle schoolers
  • Find Your Ground (Ages 14–18): Comprehensive wellness for high school students

Family Training Programs

Free mental health training for new mothers, fathers, extended family members, and community supporters. Covers perinatal mental health, emotional wellness, family resilience, and how to support a loved one experiencing a mental health challenge. Delivered in community sites, churches, and Head Start locations.

Tele-Mental Health Navigation

Free connection to licensed mental health providers who accept Medicaid. Our care navigators provide warm referrals to therapists, psychiatrists, and counselors across Northeast Florida — removing every barrier between a family and the help they need. No insurance required to access navigation services.

Crisis Navigation

Free crisis support and warm referral to emergency mental health resources, 988, and licensed crisis services. Available Monday through Friday during business hours. For immediate crisis support, call or text 988 — free, confidential, and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Community Workshops & Education

Monthly mental health education workshops delivered across all five counties at Healthy Start sites, Head Start centers, churches, and community organizations. Topics include postpartum depression, grief, trauma recovery, parenting through stress, and building community resilience. Always free to attend.
